Suzuki Philippines backs Philippine Men's National Under -23 Footbal Team in SEA Games.

Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH), the only integrated motorcycle and automobile company in the country, continues to solidify the thrust of competitive sportsmanship through football gaming in the Philippines, by giving its full support to the Philippine Men’s National Under-23 Football Team who will be heading for the 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Jakarta come next month.

“Since football is the most popular sport in the world, Suzuki clearly wants to capitalize on this foundation to be able to build a strong pool of young players that will carry the Filipino flag,” said Suzuki Philippines (SPH) president Satoshi Uchida. He furthers, “It will be the first time of the Philippines to play a football match since 2005 when it won one match. This year, we are expecting a more stalwart performance and we are hoping for the best.”

The junior Philippine Men’s National Football Team will tackle Vietnam on the third of November at the start of Group B tourney at the Gelora Bung Karno Station in Jakarta, straight from their boot camp in Gotemba, Japan. Out of the 25 athletes that PFF has sent out to exposure training in Gotemba,  eight were products of the recently concluded PFF-Suzuki U-23 National Cup – three footballers coming from NCR, three from Negros Occidental and two from Iloilo.

Suzuki is no stranger in supporting the said sport. Aside from the abovementioned National Cup, the company has also been all out in supporting the Homegrown Heroes, namely Chieffy Caligdong, Ian Araneta, Yannick Tuazon, Paolo Pascual and Roel Gener.

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) President Mariano “Nonong” Araneta is also one with Suzuki Philippines on this vision. “The renewed interest in football on a national level is only the first step in developing this relatively new sport in the country – training comes next, then passion comes in,” says Araneta. He furthers, “We in PFF, appreciates all the efforts of SPH in elevating the sport to higher heights, and we are optimistic all this backing will only merit positive results.”

Below are the schedules of Group B, where the U-23 squad is clustered in:

November 3, 5pm VS Vietnam (Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno)
November 7, 5pm VS Timor Leste (Lebak Bulus Stadium)
November 11, 5pm VS Laos (Lebak Bulus Stadium)
November 13, 5pm VS Myanmar (Lebak Bulus Stadium)

July 27, 2010 RAIDER BREED WARS, The Quarter Mile Battle: UPDATES & registration form

Suzuki Raider Breed Wars: The Quarter Mile Battle

Suzuki Philippines, one of the leading motorcycle brands in the country, is bringing drag racing to a legal venue by staging the Suzuki Raider Breed Wars: The Quarter Mile Battle.

Aware of the dangers posed by illegal drag racing which is usually held in open roads at night, Suzuki organized the Raider Breed Wars to give drag race enthusiasts a legal and proper venue to showcase their skills.

The first leg kicked off last May 30, on the Old Airport Road Km 10, Sasa, Davao City,  and attracted a crowd of more than 5,000 riders, racers and motorcycle enthusiasts from all over Mindanao.

Team Suzuki’s Blockbuster Year-ender

The Hurrah at Lipa

Just when we thought the racing season was finally over, the Suzuki Racing Team, fresh from a spectacular showing at the 3rd IRGP, dominates the inaugural Inside Racing Cup Series at the Fiesta Speedway, Fiesta World Mall, Lipa City, Batangas last December 19, 2009.

Ivan Santiago burned the competition above his Skydrive 125 as he bested all others in the Automatic Open Category. Ivan vindicated his showing during the recently concluded IRGP 3 and established once more his technical riding supremacy. Santiago was more focused than ever to bring home top honors…dominating the category from start to finish.

Not to be undone was Suzuki’s John Lery Enriquez as he clinched back to back victories in the 115 Open and Underbone Open categories riding his spectacular Smash Revolution continuing his red-hot streak this 2009. It is now evident that Enriquez has established himself as one of the country’s premium circuit riders as he comes away victorious during this inaugural racing series. Enriquez’s partner in crime Paul Mark Doblada also finished in the top 3 spots of both categories with an assurance of climbing further to the top as the IR Cup Series progresses.

The first leg is over...Dominated by a team driven by one mission…A team sending out a message that there will be definitely more to come in 2010.
